Every Waterfield kitchen is bespoke and tailored to your family, so the cost will also be unique to your project. That being said, we will ask you for your budget very early on in the process, so we have prepared this guide to give you some reference points to help you answer the question if you do not know where to start.
Three kitchens, three price points
We will always quote prices inclusive of VAT so you can quickly see the full cost – this is reflected in the prices below. We also include the full cost of professional installation by our own craftsmen. We say that explicitly because not every kitchen company does the same. Some quote supply only and add installation as a separate line. Ours does not. What you see is what it costs to have the kitchen in your home, fitted and finished.
The simplest way to give guide prices is through size – small, medium or large – which we have provided below. But it’s important to bare in mind that it is not the only metric that can affect the cost. Details, materials or finishes all have a part to play; for example, a custom inframe kitchen with drawer fluting or turned spindles will be a higher price point than a modern frameless shaker of a similar size. Understanding your budget and non-negotiable elements of your design will help us to tailor your design accordingly, and we offer a complementary design service which will enable us to provide a quote to accompany your concept design before committing.

Small kitchen – Guide price: £30,000 – £40,000
A straight run or L-shape layout, designed to work hard in a compact footprint. Typically 10 to 12 individually made units: a combination of base units, wall units and appliance housings, and a small island or peninsula. A single worktop run, a sink base and a full appliance specification within the budget.
This is not an entry-level kitchen. It is the same level of craftsmanship applied to every unit, the same workshop, the same team. The only difference is the scale of the room.
Medium kitchen – Guide price: £40,000 – £60,000
An L-shape or U-shape configuration with greater complexity. Typically up 15 – 18 units, with more variation in depth, height and function: drawer stacks, dedicated appliance housings, a larder tower or wine storage, and potentially a simple island for prep and storage.
Large kitchen – Guide price: £60,000 – £120,000
An open-plan configuration with multiple runs. Typically over 20 individually made units, including tower housings, dedicated appliance runs, and bespoke furniture pieces such as a pocket-door coffee station or full-height joinery wall, a prep table or feature island for four or more people.
What is inside a Waterfield quote
However a project is priced, every Waterfield quote covers five things.
- Cabinetry and joinery. This is typically the largest element, representing around 55% to 60% of the kitchen total. Every unit is made in our 23,000 square foot workshop in Kent by cabinetmakers who have been doing this a really long time. Dimensions are taken from the actual room, not from a standard size guide. It is the drawer you open forty times a day. It is the soft close you stop noticing until you are at someone else’s house and theirs slams shut.
- Worktops. Supply and fit included. Material choice is where this number moves most. Marble, engineered quartz and solid timber sit at meaningfully different price points, and that difference runs through the total.
- Appliances. Sourced, supplied and included. Appliances typically represent 10% to 15% of the total. There is genuine flexibility here: appliance brands vary considerably in price, and a considered choice at this stage can move the budget without compromising the quality of the kitchen.
- Installation. Two of our craftsmen on site for typically three to four weeks, depending on the scope of the project. This includes templating, fitting and all finishing work. It is included in every Waterfield quote.
- Survey and detailed design. Included.
What is not in the quote
This is where hidden costs live, and we would rather you knew about them before you start.
Plumbing, electrics, gas connection, decoration and any structural or building work sit entirely outside a Waterfield kitchen quote but can be priced as an additional element if required. These are separate disciplines delivered by separate contractors. If you are extending, the build cost sits outside the kitchen figure entirely. So does the strip out and removal of your existing kitchen. We can quote for all of these elements if required but they are not included in our scope as standard.
None of this changes what we make or how we make it. But it does change the total budget you need to be working with. A kitchen that costs £60,000 will sit inside a total project spend that is often considerably higher once those elements are included.
Where to invest
Over the life of the kitchen, the cabinetry is where the value lives. It is what you use every day, what your hands touch every morning, and what a Waterfield kitchen is built around. The worktop is the second most consequential decision: the most used surface in the room, expected to take twenty years of daily use, from hot pans to red wine to children with felt tips.
Appliances are where there is the most genuine flexibility without compromising the overall standard of the kitchen. There are strong brands at a range of price points, and a Waterfield designer will help you think through the choices that make sense for how you actually cook.
